Sea-Tac flight affected | Here's what to do

Seattle Times staff reporter

British Airways' flight cancellations Tuesday and Wednesday will affect the airline's daily flight between Seattle and London's Heathrow Airport, departing each evening at 6:30 p.m. and arriving in London at noon.

If you are scheduled to fly on those dates, contact your travel agent or the airline at 1-800-247-9297 for a refund or rebooking. British is allowing customers to claim a full refund, rebook their flight for a later date or be rebooked by British Airways with another airline.

British is the only airline with non-stop service from Seattle to London, but several other airlines operate flights with connections through other cities.

Air Canada, for instance, operates a daily flight from Vancouver via Seattle; United flies via Chicago; Northwest through Minneapolis, Continental through Houston, US Airways through Philadelphia; and Delta through Cincinnati.

"It's not a heavy travel time right now so we're kind of lucky,'' said Terri Bushaw, manager of the Georgetown office of Doug Fox travel in Seattle. She and other agents spent the morning making other flight arrangements for clients scheduled to depart and come home from London next week on British flights.

"The majority of our clients are rebooking on other airlines and they've so far been able to do without a problem,'' she said.

Check the airline's website (www.ba.com) for updates. Further cancellations will likely take place before and after the strike dates, the airline said. Customers due to travel between Feb. 1 and Feb. 16, whose flights have not yet been cancelled, can rebook but are not yet being offered refunds.
