Dear Reader, lend us your (Mickey) ears.
Disneyland's 50th Anniversary party begins May 5, and, as all things Disney, will run for a while — 18 months, to be exact. Even though Mickey and Minnie (the Mice Family) have yet to send us our invitation (Note to Mickey: "M-I-C... see you real soon!"), we're partying anyway, and we'd like you to join in.
Send us your own funny or bizarre memories and photos from your visits to the Anaheim theme park. If you need some inspiration, read the staff real-life adventures we've posted. We'll print lots of yours by the time the party starts next month and give one lucky winner a $50 gift certificate to the Disney Store.
Here's how to do it:
Read these Disneyland stories
Terror on the water: stuck in Disney's "It's a Small World"
Your stories and photos must be from a trip to Disneyland Anaheim (any year is OK, from opening day in 1955 on), and they must be real adventures (sorry, fiction writers need not apply). Please keep your stories under 350 words. If you're using regular mail, note that we are not able to return photos, so please don't send us originals.
We'll print several of our favorite Disney tales and photos in May, prior to the start of Disneyland's 50th anniversary celebration. We'll also select one story as our prize winner. The author will be awarded a $50 gift certificate to the Disney Store.
You may send your stories and photos to either of the following addresses:
Mail: Disney, c/o Travel, The Seattle Times, P.O. Box 70, Seattle, WA 98111.
E-mail: travel@seattletimes.com (the subject line should read Disney)
Please include your name, address and a daytime telephone number so we may contact you for verification.
