Planning a vacation that includes amenities for your kids? Here are some hints:

• First, be sure to include your children in the planning, depending on their ages. Also, consider their interests if you are making reservations for a kids' program.

• Do some research before calling to make reservations. Ask your travel agent for brochures, or look at the hotels' web sites for information.

• If you don't have questions, consider making reservations through the website. Some hotels offer discounts or other premiums for online reservations.

• If you're calling for reservations, be sure to include your children's needs in the package. In many cases you need to ask for the welcome package or reserve a spot in the kids' camp along with your accommodations.

• Even if the hotel doesn't advertise kids' amenities, be sure to ask about accommodations for families. Sometimes you can get an extra, adjoining room at a reduced rate.

• Be sure to leave flexibility in your schedule. Remember, a vacation is a break from hectic daily routines.
