I-5 ramp closed for up to a year

Seattle Times staff reporter
The reversible ramp from Pike and Pine streets in downtown Seattle to the Interstate 5 express lanes is closed for up to a year so that Sound Transit contractors can do prep work under the freeway before a tunnel boring machine begins work on the planned 3.15-mile light-rail tunnel extension from downtown Seattle to the University District.
The closure began at 11 Wednesday night
During the closure, drivers will be able to exit the freeway express lanes at Stewart Street and enter the express lanes at Howell Street. Buses that use the downtown transit tunnel will not be affected by the extended closure.
