Aurora Bridge re-opened after crashes

Posted by Matt Kreamer

The Aurora Bridge is clear after two 9 a.m. crashes that blocked five of the six lanes.
All six lanes are now open, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation. Earlier, all three southbound lanes were blocked, as well as two of the three northbound lanes.
Southbound traffic was backed up to Greenlake.
Steve Moody, a Phinney Ridge resident, said that while the bridge was blocked, he waited for a bus into downtown at 46th and Phinney for about 30 minutes. Once he was on the bus, it took another 20 minutes to go two blocks with the area traffic at a standstill, he said. At that point, about 9:30 a.m., he decided it was futile, so he got off the bus and walked home.
