Adam Kennedy arrested for DUI

There was a weird situation today at the Mariners' pre-spring-training press conference. Right in the middle of it, TMZ broke the story that infielder Adam Kennedy had been arrested for DUI.
When word filtered out, several reporters afterwards naturally asked Jack Zduriencik about it. He declined to comment, saying he, too, had just heard the news.
"I don't have any details,'' he said. "Until I get some information, I'm going to refrain from commenting.''
When I got back to the office, I called the California Highway Patrol in Orange County and confirmed that Kennedy had indeed been stopped in Newport Beach last night just before 9 p.m. The public information officer told me that Kennedy was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and arrested at 9:11 p.m on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was booked into the Orange County Men's Central Jail, and released this morning.
No other information was available. This is the second legal situation involving a Mariners player in Southern California in two weeks. Milton Bradley was arrested on Jan. 19 for allegedly making a threat against a woman.
Kennedy was signed as a non-roster player on Jan. 10 and invited to spring training, with a chance to make the team as a utility infielder. He played several seasons with the Angels and was the Most Valuable Player of the ALCS during the Angels' World Series championship season of 2002.
One more thing: The officer I spoke to made a point of saying that the word "drugs" is part of the vehicular code and not necessarily indicative of any suspicion of drug use.
