Report: Cliff Lee to Mariners

Posted by Larry Stone

First word comes from SI's Jon Heyman in a tweet. Roy Halladay would go to Philadelphia, Lee to the Mariners, and Seattle prospects to Toronto. The only name we're hearing right now is pitcher Phillippe Aumont, a Canadian. We're tracking.

On Saturday, when Ken Rosenthal of Fox first broached the possibility of a three-way trade sending Lee to the Mariners, he mentioned Adam Moore and Carlos Triunfel as possibilities to be thrown into the deal, along with Aumont. And don't forget Tyson Gillies, a Canadian outfielder who is shooting up through the Mariners' system.

Lee is one year away from free agency. The Phillies picked up his 2010 option at $8 million, which is a very reasonable contract for a pitcher of his caliber -- low enough to allow the Mariners to make more moves, such as bringing in a bat.
