Mariners minor leaguer suspended for PEDs

Posted by Larry Stone

Robert Rodriguez, an outfielder who hit .176 in 52 games for the Mariners' Dominican Summer League team in 2009, has been suspended for 50 games.

According to a press release from the commissioner's office, Rodriguez was suspended
"after testing positive for metabolites of Methandienone, a performance-enhancing substance, and having an elevated T/E ratio in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program."

The suspension of Rodriguez will be effective at the start of next season. In 131 at-bats, Rodriguez had no homers and 22 RBIs this past season. Rodriguez, from Bani, Dominican Republic, is 19.
