Reports: Mariners sign Pimentel
Posted by Larry Stone
No official confirmation yet, but two newspapers in the Dominican Republic are reporting that the Mariners have signed Dominican outfielder Guillermo Pimentel, according to Baseball America. It appears he will received a $2 million bonus from the M's.
As I posted yesterday, the 16-year-old Pimentel, a left-hander, is considered one of the top international hitters on the market. The Mariners went back and forth with the Rangers in pursuit of Pimentel but apparently have won out.
