Human bat tricks: Check out this ex-Mariner minor leaguer!
Posted by Larry Stone
Thanks to Seattle Times colleague Dwight Perry, author of the always amusing Sideline Chatter, for pointing out this video.
It shows Josh Womack, a former second-round draft pick of the Mariners in 2002 who is now playing for the independent Long Beach Armada.
Womack does a crazy bat flip that has to be seen to be believed. In fact, some people apparently don't believe it's real. But I e-mailed Michael Callin, who is assistant general manager/director of baseball operations for the Armada, and asked him if he could vouch for the veracity of the video.
His reply? "Absolutely real!"
So enjoy. As an added bonus, at the bottom there is another video with some bat tricks by Prentice Redman, currently tearing up the Pacific Coast League with Tacoma.
