Gold Bar man guilty in dismemberment murder
Posted by Cathy McLain
from The Associated Press
A 40-year-old Gold Bar man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the gruesome slaying of his ex-girlfriend.
Eric Christensen faces more than 45 years in prison for killing 35-year-old Sherry Harlan and dismembering her body.
Jurors deliberated for three hours before reaching a verdict Friday in Snohomish County Superior Court.
Prosecutors say Harlan was killed between Jan. 2 and 3 after Christensen found a text message from another man on her cellphone.
Court papers say Christensen told police the message was evidence that Harlan had broken a "Wiccan blood oath" she'd made to break off a relationship with the other man.
Christensen is scheduled to be sentenced June 18.
