Domestic violence documentary to screen at Seattle Center

Posted by Jennifer Sullivan

A documentary focusing on domestic violence victims and the criminal justice system will premiere at Seattle Center's McCaw Hall on Thursday night.

"Shout. The Story of Domestic Violence," was produced by a Seattle man whose sister was slain in a murder-suicide in California eight years ago. The film will also include stories from victims of domestic violence, as well as commentary from police, lawmakers, domestic violence counselors and volunteers at women's shelters.

King County Senior Deputy Prosecutor Gary Ernsdorff and State Attorney General Rob McKenna are also featured in the film. The film was created in association with Session 7 Media and Domestic Abuse Women's Network (DAWN), a Tukwila-based non-profit that assists victims of abuse.

Brenda Chrystie, development director of DAWN, said the screening is free. DVDs of the film will be available at the event for a suggested donation of $10. The screening will last from 7-9 p.m.

For more information check the DAWN Web site or the Session 7 Media site.
