My Ballard: Package thief caught on camera
Posted by John de Leon
Package theft on 1/26 in Ballard from seattle vimeo user on Vimeo.
A thief was caught stealing some packages from a Ballard porch after the residents installed a security camera, according to our news partners at MyBallard.com.
The theft occurred Tuesday and the victims have filed a police report.
According to MyBallard.com, UPS delivered the packages at 2:25 p.m. and the theft occurred at 2:43 p.m. The timing could mean the thief was trailing the delivery truck.
The thief in the video appears to be a woman around 5-feet-1 to 5-feet-3. She left in what appears to be a blue 1985-'89 Mazda 323 hatchback.
The residents got the motion-sensing camera last summer after they experienced a similar theft while they were living in a different neighborhood.
"I'm not a proponent of having cameras everywhere, but a camera aimed at our own porch/mailbox/entrance and part of our driveway seems reasonable to me," the resident tells MyBallard.com.
