Sailboat capsizes off Golden Gardens, two swim to shore

Posted by John de Leon

-- From Times staff reporter Christine Clarridge:

Rescue crews were called out to an area south of Golden Gardens after two people were reported to be in the water after a sailboat capsized, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Lt. Scott Melton said that the call for help came in at 4:21 p.m. By the time a Coast Guard vessel arrived, one person was already on the shore and the other was walking out of the water, he said. The people did not appear to be injured, he said.

The sailboat was towed into Shilshole Bay, Melton said, and the Coast Guard was trying to determine what happened.
