Police standoff ends peacefully in Lynnwood
Posted by John de Leon
A standoff involving the South Snohomish County SWAT team and a couple in a condo ended peacefully this afternoon with the arrest of the man and woman.
Police were called to a condominium complex in the 5800 block of 200th Street Southwest after receiving a 911 hang-up call from a unit where there has been a history of domestic violence, according to Lynnwood police. Police tried to contact the man and woman in the unit just after 11 a.m., but they refused to answer the door.
Because of the previous domestic violence issues, coupled with one of the two people having a violent criminal history, SWAT and police negotiators were called to the scene. Tenants in surrouding units were evacuated.
Negotiators talked with the man and woman for a couple hours before the woman came out just after 3 p.m. The man voluntarily came out about a half hour later. No one was injured.
There was an arrest warrant in the system for the man, according to police. And the woman was also taken into custody because she was in violation of a protection order.
