The arraignment of Christopher Monfort, the Tukwila man charged with killing Seattle police Officer Timothy Brenton on Oct. 31, has been delayed again. The new date and time for the arraignment is 8:30 a.m. Monday.

His arraignment had been scheduled for Thursday, but he remains hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, recovering from gunshot wounds. Monfort, 41, was shot during a Nov. 6 confrontation with police. His family has said he is paralyzed from the waist down.

Monfort has been charged with one count of aggravated murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree arson. The arson charge one and one of the counts of attempted murder stem from the Oct. 22 firebombing of four Seattle police vehicles at a city maintenance yard.

This is the third time Monfort's arraignment has been delayed.

Brenton, 39, and rookie Officer Britt Sweeney, 33, were seated in their parked patrol car shortly after 10 p.m. on Halloween when police say that Monfort drove up next to them and opened fire. Brenton was killed immediately, and Sweeney suffered minor injuries.

According to court documents, on the day of Monfort's arrest, three Seattle homicide detectives, acting on a tip that his car matched one seen near the crime scene, confronted him at his Tukwila apartment. The documents say he twice aimed a gun at officers before police shot him.

Monfort's attorney has filed a motion with the court asking that Monfort be dressed in non-jail clothing for all court appearances, that he not be in handcuffs or shackles in the courtroom and that his face not be photographed during his arraignment or other pre-trial proceedings. A hearing on that motion is now scheduled for Thursday.
