-- From Times staff reporter Mike Carter:
Jenny Durkan, the U.S. Attorney for Western Washington, has been appointed to a select group of federal prosecutors who will advise Attorney General Eric Holder on critical issues and give him advice from the field.
Durkan is among nine U.S. attorneys nationwide appointed to a two-year term on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee, which meets regularly to discuss issues facing federal prosecutors and the U.S. Department of Justice. The job means that Durkan, who was nominated by President Obama this summer and confirmed by the U.S. Senate just a month ago, will travel frequently.
Holder and the Obama administration have promised to mend fences after the political firing of nine U.S. Attorneys -- including John McKay of Seattle -- that resulted in the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
