Burglar 'rescued' by police after being stabbed by victim

Posted by John de Leon

A suspected burglar got more than he bargained for this morning when he broke into an apartment and was stabbed by the woman who lives there, police said.

The suspect tried to enter the woman's apartment in the 7400 block of Rainier Avenue South around 2 a.m. by using a key. When the key didn't work the suspect then kicked the door open. As he stepped inside the apartment, the victim, afraid for her life, stabbed the man in the shoulder.

The suspect ran off and the victim chased after him.

Responding officers stopped the pair and, according to a police account of the incident, "rescued the suspect from the victim."

The knife was recovered.

The man was arrested and taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his wound. He was later booked into King County Jail for investigation of burglary.

The victim was not injured.
