Practice doesn't make perfect for DUI suspect

Posted by John de Leon

The item of the week comes -- once again -- from the Anacortes American's weekly police blotter.

Earlier this month, an Anacortes police officer stopped a car for speeding just before 1 a.m. The driver, a 28-year-old Sedro-Woolley man, smelled of alcohol and had difficulty focusing on the officer's questions, according to a police account.

Police found a marijuana pipe in the man's car.

The man performed poorly on field sobriety tests, which apparently came as a surprise to the suspect. He insisted to the officer that he knew what he was doing because had recently been arrested for DUI in Bellingham.

The man was cited and released to his mother.
