Pole posters toasted by arsonists
Posted by John de Leon
Police said a man and a woman set several utility poles on fire early this morning. It's probably no coincidence, but the fires were set around the time that bars close.
At 2 a.m., an officer was flagged down by a taxi driver, who said he saw a man and a woman set a light pole on fire at 10th Avenue and East Pike Street. The two had lit posters, which were attached to the pole, causing a smoldering fire that burned out on its own. Seattle fire crews responded to the scene.
Police searched the area for additional fires and found three more poles smoldering on 10th Avenue between East Pike and East Pine streets. The only damage was to the posters attached to the poles.
The suspects are described as a middle-age man and woman, dressed in black.
