Police investigate two more U District arsons
Posted by John de Leon
Police say some lit what appeared to be an oven mit and placed it in a barbecue next to a home. Fortunately, the fire did not spread beyond the barbecue, according to police.
Police and fire units responded to the home in the 4300 block of Eighth Avenue Northeast around 9:30 last night for the possible arson call. The fire in the barbecue was quickly put out by fire crews with no damage reported to the home.
Another arson was reported at 3 a.m. Saturday at an apartment building in the 4200 block of Ninth Avenue Northeast. A man returning to his third-floor apartment found burning paper in the hallway. The man called 911 and Seattle fire crews quickly doused the blaze, which burned about one square foot of carpet.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the fires were related to three U District arsons last Saturday and Monday. In the earlier fires, items placed outside were ignited near buildings.
