State Patrol heading to Leavenworth for Oktoberfest
Posted by John de Leon
Planning to celebrate Oktoberfest with a few beers in Leavenworth? Be sure to bring along your lederhosen and a designated driver.
The State Patrol will be increasing patrols in the Leavenworth area during this year's Oktoberfest, which takes place over the next three weekends. The State Patrol has received extra funding from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission to bring in extra troopers on Friday and Saturday nights during Oktoberfest.
Troopers will also be bringing along their Mobile Impaired Driving Unit, a 36-foot motor home that is equipped with three breath testing instruments, holding facilities, officer work stations and computers. The State Patrol says this will speed up the processing time and allow the troopers to return to patrol faster.
Troopers will be focusing on impaired driving, dangerous speeding, aggressive driving, and seat belt violations.
