Aberdeen Daily World: Horse killed in collision with boat trailer

Posted by John de Leon

"Bizarre" is often a word that's overused by the media, but an accident Saturday evening west of Aberdeen certainly qualifies.

According to the Aberdeen Daily World, the horse and rider were crossing state Highway 105 at Bayview Road in Ocosta at about 5:10 p.m. when the horse became spooked and ran across the highway.

The rider, a 52-year-old Westport man, fell off the horse as the animal ran in front of a Ford F-150 pickup. The pickup driver swerved to avoid hitting the horse, but a boat trailer he was hauling struck the animal, which died at the scene.

The rider suffered minor injuries, but didn't need to be taken to the hospital, the Daily World reports. The pickup's driver, a 42-year-old Fall City man, was not injured.
