Man arrested in father's death held on $1 million bail

Posted by Jennifer Sullivan

A 29-year-old man arrested early Sunday for allegedly shooting his father is being held at the King County Jail in lieu of $1 million. A judge today determined there was probable cause to hold the suspect in custody.

Tai Duc Thong was arrested after dialing 911 to report that he shot Thomas Thong, according to a probable cause affidavit written by Seattle police. When police arrived at the Thong home, in the 9000 block of 39th Avenue South, they found the wounded man.

Thomas Thong was taken to Harborview Medical Center to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds. He later died, according to police. The slain man's wife told police that her son was responsible, police said.

Tai Tuc Thong told police that he had smoked PCP and marijuana before the shooting, the affidavit said.

Dan Donohoe, spokesman for the King County Prosecutor's Office, said that a murder charge will be filed this week. He said the case hasn't been sent to his office for determination on what the exact charge will be.
