Woman who abandoned newborn at church pleads guilty

Posted by John de Leon

A Federal Way woman who abandoned her newborn at the doorstep of a church last September pleaded guilty this morning to one count of third-degree abandonment of a dependent person, according to the King County Prosecutor's Office.

Sarah Christianson, 23, will be sentenced on Aug.14 at the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent.

The Prosecutor's Office will recommend a 24-month deferred sentence with no jail time on condition that Christianson complete 200 hours of community service and that she either remain employed or attend school, undergo mental health counseling, and have no contact with the child except as permitted by Child Protective Services.
