Man gets 9 months for attack on White Center therapy cat

Posted by Jennifer Sullivan

Tracy A. Clark, the man convicted of stabbing and slashing a beloved therapy cat at a White Center men's rehabilitation center earlier this year, was sentenced today to 9 months in jail and must undergo alcohol treatment.

Clark, who pleaded guilty on June 29 to animal cruelty, has been in the King County Jail, held in lieu $50,000 bail, since his arrest April 20.

Clark was arrested after the men's Ministry Leader at Cross Church called authorities to report finding Scatt, the church therapy cat, wounded in the parking lot.

The cat had lived at the church for about a decade after showing up on the doorstep and refusing to leave. Over the years, the cat became a fixture and source of therapy for the men who had joined the church while trying to kick drugs and alcohol.

Since the attack, Scatt has move in with the church pastor and no longer works as a therapy cat.
