SPD officer injured when dragged by car
Posted by John de Leon
A Seattle police officer was injured early this morning when he was dragged by a car being driven by a man wanted for reckless driving.
Just before 2 a.m., a West Precinct officer saw a blue Honda being driving recklessly, according to a police account of the incident. The officer turned on his emergency lights and Honda pulled into a parking lot just south of 1st Avenue and Lenora Street.
The officer got out of his car and approached the Honda. The Honda sped by the officer but was blocked in by another police car. The Honda struck the second patrol car. The officer ran up and grabbed the driver to prevent him from driving off. But the driver reversed the car, dragging the officer approximately 50 feet until the Honda struck a parked car.
The suspect then drove past the other patrol vehicle and fled. The suspect is still at large.
The injured officer was taken to an area hospital for an exam. The officer suffered back pains and was sent home.
The police account doesn't give a description of the vehicle.
