Snohomish County deputies shoot man during domestic-violence call
Posted by John de Leon
An armed man was shot last night by Snohomish County sheriff's deputies who responded to a domestic violence call near Arlington. The man's condition was not immediately known.
The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team offered this account of the shooting:
The deputies were called about 9:45 p.m. to a home in the 11000 block of 228th Street Northeast after a woman told 911 dispatchers that she was being threatened by a man with a firearm. It is unclear what the relationship is between the man and woman involved. Deputies have been to this residence in the past on previous domestic- violence calls.
Deputies approached the home, which is set back about 100 yards from the street, and spoke with a man, who was standing on the porch. The man was armed with a handgun and refused to comply with deputies' orders. Shots were fired by two deputies, hitting the man.
The police account does not indicate whether the man fired a gunshot.
The deputies will be placed on administrative leave, which is routine after an officer-involved shooting. One of the deputies is 38 and began work with the Sheriff's Office in 2003 after working for another law enforcement agency. The second is 32 and began work with the Sheriff's Office in 2007. He, too, has previous law enforcement experience.
The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team is investigating the shooting and doesn't expect to release additional information until this afternoon.
In late May, Snohomish County deputies fatally shot a man who was angry over weed-control spraying in the Verlot area.
