Posted by John de Leon

Remember that scene from the 1986 film "Stand by Me" when Kiefer Sutherland's character and some knucklehead friends drive around destroyng mailboxes with a baseball bat? Police in Bellingham say someone may doing the same thing.

According to The Bellingham Herald, someone used a bat or a stick to smash mailboxes and car windshields and windows between 2 and 3 a.m. Monday. The damage was done from a moving vehicle, which means there was a driver and at least one passenger, police said.

Damage may run into the thousands, making the crime a felony.
