Tactical rifle stolen from Island County deputy's patrol car
Posted by John de Leon
Someone broke into a patrol car parked outside the home of an Island County sheriff's deputy and made off with items totaling more than $6,000, including a tactical rifle.
The break-in happened sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning outside the deputy's Camano Island home. Someone pried open the door on the deputy's 2008 Dodge Charger and took a Panasonic CF-30 "Tough book" laptop computer, a cell phone and a digital camera. The thief was also able to pick the weapons lock in the passenger compartment and remove a Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15 rifle with an Eotech sight.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the laptop computer is password protected and contains no sensitive information. The computer's link to the computer aided dispatch system was severed so no other information is in jeopardy.
The Sheriff's Office has no suspects.
