Pierce County man, 90, survives four days stuck in car in Eastern Washington
Posted by Nick Provenza
The Wenatchee World says in a story today that a 90-year-old man from Roy in Pierce County survived four days in his car after it got wedged against some trees.
The man, whose name wasn't available, was reported missing by his family a week ago Tuesday. He was found inside his car in a remote area of Tarpiscan Road southeast of Wenatchee on Saturday evening.
Three men looking for antlers shed by deer reported to RiverCom dispatch center that they had found the man and his car.
"It was just a miracle that these guys were out there," said Shawn Ballard of Ballard Ambulance, who was at the scene.
The man apparently left his home Tuesday and drove through Wenatchee, Malaga and then up Colockum Pass Road before heading onto the north fork of Tarpiscan Road, Ballard said.
He then drove his car through a closed road, through a field and into a wooded area where his driver's side door became lodged against some trees. Ballard said he did not know why the man was driving in the area but he apparently had sat for four days in the passenger seat.
The man was treated overnight at Central Washington Hospital, apparently for dehydration.
