The Seattle-based fishing vessel Mar-Gun was pulled from the beach this morning on St. George, Alaska.


The Seattle-based fishing vessel Mar-Gun was pulled from the beach on St. George Island this morning. and towed to Zapadni Harbor, St. George Island, for a damage survey prior to being towed to Dutch Harbor for permanent repairs.

The vessel grounded March 5 about 200 yards off the north end of St. George Island, one of Alaska's Pribilof Islands. All five crewmembers were rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter. Responders moved quickly to remove 19,000 gallons of diesel and 660 gallons of lube oil from the vessel.
