Concert of musicals that went 'Real to Reel'
Showtunes Musical Theatre's "Real to Reel" concert on Jan. 28-29 salutes musicals that made it from the stage to the big screen.
Most hit Broadway musicals wind up on the silver screen — though not necessarily with all the same songs in tow. Showtunes Theatre Company finds plenty of choice material, though, for a concert devoted to numbers from such best-picture Oscar winners as "Gigi," "Oliver!," "The Sound of Music" and "West Side Story," and many other stage-to-screen transfers. Under the direction of seasoned Broadway and Hollywood veteran Martin Charnin (front-row left in photo above; at right is Showtunes executive producer Maggie Stenson Pehrson), "Real to Reel" will boast a cast of top Seattle musical-theater talent. 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, Moore Theatre, 1932 Second Ave., Seattle; $28 (877-784-4849 or www.stgpresents.org).
