The Short List

What our writers love this week

Singer Meklit Hadero, Seattle rappers Fresh Espresso and the HBO series "Entourage" make our list of favorites this week.

Music

Meklit Hadero

Soulful, tremulous and strangely cinematic, Hadero's voice will implant scenes in your mind — a softly lit supperclub, a Brooklyn stoop, a sun-baked road. Close your eyes, listen and dream. She plays Monday night at the Triple Door, 216 Union St., Seattle; $15-$18 (206-838-4333 or www.tripledoor.net).

'Entourage'

Vince and the guys are back from Italy as season seven of HBO's "Entourage" opens on June 27. Vince (Adrian Grenier) is filming a new action movie in which he's determined, to the horror of his agent Ari (the great Jeremy Piven), to perform his own stunts. Based loosely on the experiences of real-life actor/producer Mark Wahlberg, these guys from Queens-turned-Hollywood define what camaraderie is all about. Look for season six on DVD beginning Tuesday, as well.

Expect a string of firecracker performances from this Seattle synth-rap duo this summer. P Smoov and Rik Rude play Saturday for Pride 2010 at the Wildrose on Capitol Hill (1021 E. Pike St., Seattle; 206-324-9210 or www.thewildrosebar.com), then hit Capitol Hill Block Party in July and Bumbershoot in September. They debuted new material last month at Sasquatch! for a thousand partiers (search vimeo.com), and it sounded good — "Sunglasses" introduced zen/goth vibes, "Hush" featured Rik rapping hard and fast.
