Village brings curtain down on season with '42nd Street'

The Village Theatre ends its season with "42nd Street" in Issaquah and in Everett.

The Village Theatre closes its 30th anniversary season with the backstage musical "42nd Street." Steve Tomkins directs and is co-choreographer with Kristin Culp.

The Tony-winning tuner has the familiar numbers "We're in the Money," "Shuffle off to Buffalo" and "Lullaby of Broadway." Based on the 1933 movie of the same name, it tells the story of Peggy Sawyer, freshly in New York from Pennsylvania, who gets her big break.

The Issaquah shows are Thursday-July 3, and the Everett run is July 9-Aug. 1. Village shows are at the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre, 303 Front St. N., Issaquah; tickets are $19-$59 (425-392-2202). The Everett venue is the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.; tickets for those shows are $17-$52 (425-257-8600). Tickets are also available at www.villagetheatre.org.
