'Full Monty,' 'Jesus Christ Superstar' to be part of Village Theatre's season

A pair of musicals — that are local premieres — an Andrew Lloyd Webber perennial, a murder mystery and a story about male strippers are all part of the 2010-2011 season at Issaquah's Village Theatre.

A pair of local premiere musicals, an Andrew Lloyd Webber perennial, a sly murder mystery and a male striptease tuner will constitute the 2010-2011 season at Issaquah's Village Theatre.

From recent works previously presented in chamber versions at the annual Village Originals new-musical festival, the company will mount the local mainstage debuts of "Anne of Green Gables," a family show inspired by the class saga of a young orphan adopted by rural Canadian siblings in the early 1900s. The Janet Yates Vogt-Mark Friedman show runs in Issaquah from Nov. 10, 2010-Jan. 2, 2011.

The other Village Originals alum, "Iron Curtain," is a comic musical by Susan DiLallo, Stephen Weiner and Peter Mills set during the Cold War, which depicts Broadway types pressed into service to "doctor" a musical in Soviet Russia. It runs March 16-April 24, 2011, at the Village.

Also scheduled: "The Full Monty," the rollicking Broadway hit, which transplants the hit film about unemployed Brits who band together to put on a strip show to Buffalo, N.Y. (Sept. 15-Oct. 24, 2010); Anthony Shaffer's mystery play "Sleuth," about the cat-and-mouse rivalry of two whodunit writers (Jan. 19-Feb. 27, 2011); and "Jesus Christ Superstar," the early Tim Rice-Andrew Lloyd Webber rock opera with Jesus and Judas belting out pop tunes (May 11-July 3, 2011).

After the initial Issaquah run, each show is also presented at the Everett Performing Arts Center. Details: 425-392-2202 or www.villagetheatre.org
