Violinist David Garrett plays Seattle
Classical violinist David Garrett plays The Moore Theatre Feb. 22 and 23.
David Garrett
Smart boy. Bad boy. Busboy. Pretty boy.
Classical violinist David Garrett has taken a winding path to the world's stages. Dubbed by People magazine as a "classical hottie" and by Guinness World Records as "the fastest violinist in the world," the 28-year-old German began playing as a child and was signed to the Deutsche Grammophon label at 13.
After leaving for America, he studied under Itzhak Perlman at Juilliard and — after working as an Armani model — began performing again. He made headlines briefly in 2008 when he fell in London, smashing his Guadagnini violin, said to be worth $1 million.
He's touring in support of his self-titled album and a PBS special, "Live in Berlin," which aired during various stations' pledge periods.
Garrett will play two dates in Seattle: 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Moore Theatre, 1932 Second Ave., Seattle; $33 (877-784-4849 or www.stgpresents.com).
