Seattle Symphony names interim president-executive director

Seattle Symphony Vice President of Development Mark McCampbell has been named interim executive director of the Seattle Symphony.

Seattle Symphony Vice President of Development Mark McCampbell has been named interim executive director of the Symphony, board chairwoman Leslie Jackson Chihuly announced Friday afternoon.

McCampbell was brought into the symphony by current Executive Director Thomas Philion, who announced in December that he would not seek renewal of his contract when it expires in June.

According to a Symphony news release, McCampbell has 30 years of nonprofit fundraising experience.

A search for a new president and executive director is under way. The Symphony is also searching for a new music director, as current music director Gerard Schwarz is stepping down in 2011.
