'A Cathedral Christmas' with Seattle Choral Company

Seattle Choral Company celebrates "A Cathedral Christmas" this weekend.

Seattle Choral Company

The 100-voice symphonic chorus gets in a holiday mood this week with "A Cathedral Christmas." Benjamin Britten's "Ceremony of Carols," featuring Bethany Man on harp, is one of the highlights. Also on the program: contemporary works by Estonian composer Veljo Tormis, Canadian composer Diane Loomer and American composer Steven Sametz, as well as works by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Franz Biebl. The evening closes with conductor/artistic director Fred Coleman leading the audience in "a grand carol sing-along," with organist Thomas Joyce accompanying. The Bells of the Sound, a handbell choir, will "ring in" many of the numbers as well. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Saint Mark's Cathedral, 1245 10th Ave. E., Seattle; $10-$27 (800-838-3006 or www.brownpapertickets.com).
