Baroque Northwest concerts

All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m., at Trinity Parish Church, 609 Eighth Ave., Seattle. Subscriptions are $34-$85 (includes two free passes so you can introduce friends to the series). Single tickets $10-$25 (206-920-3822 or www.baroquenorthwest.com).

Baroque Northwest opens its 2009-10 season Saturday with "Baroque à la mode," featuring harpsichordist Bernard Gordillo, who joins the Seattle-based ensemble in a concert of works by French composers Couperin, Leclair, Marais and Boismortier.

Gordillo is the founder-director of his own baroque outfit, L'Aura, and samples of his work with them and other musicians can be heard on www.bernardgorillo.com.

As for the rest of Baroque Northwest's season:

Dec. 19: "The Spice of Life: Variations on Musical Themes": A program of "vocal music, dance music, and everything in between" from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

Feb. 6, 2010: "The Scottish Harp with Maxine Eilander": Music of Scotland "with a nod to Wales, Ireland and Britain."

March 20, 2010: "Back to Basics: Baroque Northwest does the Standards": A lineup of Baroque biggies — Vivaldi, J.S. Bach, Handel, Telemann — closes out the season.

Baroque Northwest players Ronnee Fulton, Elizabeth Brown, August Denhard and founder-director Kim Pineda enjoy discussing their music with the audience, and have lately been "expanding our musical horizons with cross-genre concerts with different groups who play traditional music from around the world."
