Reynolds to see daughter's show in Seattle
Golden-age screen star Debbie Reynolds and her actress-daughter Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia of "Star Wars") will cross paths in Seattle.
Debbie Reynolds' weekend stint performing with Seattle Men's Chorus happens to end five days before her daughter — "Star Wars" actress and author Carrie Fisher — opens her one-woman monologue, "Wishful Drinking," at Seattle Rep on April 2.
Fisher's show, an autobiographical account of addiction and life in the public eye will, no doubt, touch upon Reynolds' marriage to and divorce from Fisher's father, singer Eddie Fisher.
"I'll see Carrie's show," says Reynolds. "April 1st is my birthday. My son Todd is driving in, and we'll all get together. We're a show-business family."
Reynolds dashes any and all assumptions that she and her daughter don't get along.
"Four years ago, I moved into a property connecting with Carrie's," Reynolds says. "She lives in Cary Grant's old estate, and below it is a little house where an old gentleman used to live. Carrie used to bring him sweets. When he died, she told me I should buy it right away. Now I get to see Carrie and my granddaughter every day."
