First Thursday features Northwest artists
Seattle artists Christopher Martin Hoff, Thomas Wood and Andie deRoux open Seattle shows on First Thursday, April 2.
Local is a hot concept these days — even at the upcoming First Thursday Art Walk, where the work of a number of intriguing Northwest artists will be on view. Among them:
Christopher Martin Hoff captures corners of the city you might ordinarily overlook, including alleyways and traffic circles (pictured here: "Only"). A solo exhibition of his work, titled "Physical Graffiti," opens Thursday at Linda Hodges Gallery, 316 First Ave. S., and remains on view 10:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays through May 2 (206-624-3034 or www.lindahodgesgallery.com).
Thomas Wood has lived in many corners of Washington state and he recalls its beauty in paintings and prints of Northwest locales (pictured: "Summer Night at Cypress Head"). His work is presented at Lisa Harris Gallery, 1922 Pike Place, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day except Tuesday, beginning next Thursday (206-443-3315 or www.lisaharrisgallery.com). The show closes May 2.
Andie deRoux mixes painting, photography and resin to create diaphanous images of nature and architecture (pictured, a detail from "Garden"). DeRoux's exhibition, "Unfolding," opens Thursday at Friesen Gallery, 1200 and 1210 Second Ave., and runs 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays- Fridays and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays through April 30 (206-628-9501 or www.friesengallery.com).
Receptions for all three artists will be held on First Thursday at their respective galleries — starting at 5 p.m. for deRoux, and 6 p.m. for Hoff and Wood.
