The newest member of NBC's Thursday-night comedy block is progressing nicely. Joel McHale (of "The Soup" fame) gives a surprisingly unsnarky performance as the leader of a group of community-college students. In tonight's episode, he joins the school's debate team. 8 p.m. on NBC (seattletimes.com/tvlistings).
