Here's a video demo of Electronic Arts' upcoming "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13," showing the hit franchise's first version with full Xbox 360 Kinect controls.

The game can be played on the Xbox 360 entirely without a controller, using a mix of Kinect gestures and voice controls. For instance, you crouch to view the ball's position or hold your hand up to your forehead -- as if shielding the sun -- to zoom out.

EA is also releasing a version that uses Sony's PlayStation Move controller for the PlayStation 3, but it seems particularly enthused about the Kinect version. The press release talks up the Kinect version's accuracy and ability to track full body movements, and calls it "the most advanced virtual golf swing to date."

Nintendo's Wii inspired the current generation of motion-sensing game systems, but EA won't be releasing a Wii version of the new game.

We'll have to see if the Kinect version is fast and accurate enough to compete with various systems for tracking and displaying golf swings. It looks like there's a bit of lag -- in the video, when the producer moves a shot to the right of the hole at about 1:18 -- but it's still fun to see the use of realistic gestures and how the big game franchises are finally using the new interface.

Also new to the game are online country clubs that players can create to compete with friends or play cooperative games.

The March 27 release costs $60, or $70 for a collector edition that includes courses such as St. Andrews and Augusta National.
