NPD: Video game sales plunge in August

Another bleak report on video game sales was just released by research firm NPD, which said the overall industry's U.S. sales fell 16 percent to $909 million last month.
Hardware sales were down 25 percent, despite a 72 percent jump in PlayStation 3 sales after its price was cut to $299.
Software sales were down 15 percent, to $470 million, with "Madden NFL 10" on the Xbox 360 the top seller, with 928,000 units sold.
