MINNEAPOLIS — Ann Wauters made a jumper from the free-throw line at the buzzer to lift the San Antonio Silver Stars to an 89-87 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.
Becky Hammon scored 22 points and set up Wauters' winner for the Silver Stars (10-11), who are a half-game behind third-place Minnesota (11-11) in the Western Conference.
Phoenix (16-7) leads the West by 2-½ games over the Storm (13-9).
"I did get bumped pretty good, regained the ball and saw Ann was sitting there wide open," said Hammon, who previously played with Wauters in New York. "We like having Ann Wauters on the court."
Nicky Anosike led Minnesota with 24 points.
"It kind of came down to who had the ball at the end," Stars coach Dan Hughes said. "Minnesota can really score."
