AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Deanna Nolan had 18 points to help the Detroit Shock beat Phoenix 89-78 Tuesday, knocking the defending champion Mercury out of the Western Conference playoff race.
San Antonio, the Storm, Los Angeles and Sacramento are the four West playoff teams.
Detroit (20-12) and Connecticut are tied for first place in the East.
