AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Kara Lawson's tiebreaking jump shot with 39 seconds left helped the Sacramento Monarchs become the first team to win on Detroit's home court this season, as they beat the Shock 88-85 Sunday.

The Shock hadn't lost at home since Game 5 of last season's WNBA Finals against Phoenix, winning its first 10 games at The Palace of Auburn Hills this season.

Rebekkah Brunson led the Monarchs (12-11) with 18 points and Ticha Penicheiro added 17.

Deanna Nolan scored 27 points for Detroit (16-8) while Cheryl Ford added 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Sacramento shot 50 percent from the field (29 of 58) and made 57 percent of its three-point attempts (8 of 14).

Detroit shot 46 percent (33 of 72) from the field and made 35 percent of its threes (7 of 20).

At Sun 74, Sky 67

Asjha Jones collected 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead Connecticut (14-10) past Chicago (7-15), snapping the Sun's losing streak at five.

Lindsay Whalen added 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Connecticut, which went on a 9-0 run late in the fourth quarter.

Reserve Armintie Price led the Sky with 15 points and Jia Perkins added 14.

"It just plain feels good to win," Connecticut coach Mike Thibault said. "There are no 'gimme' games anymore in this league. None."
