HANOVER, Ind. —

Daniel Passafiume has set the NCAA record for most receptions in a single game, catching 25 passes for Division III Hanover College.

Passafiume finished with 153 yards receiving and two touchdowns in a 42-28 loss to Franklin College on Saturday. His 25 receptions were one more than the previous all-divisions mark shared by Jerry Rice and Chas Gessner.

Passafiume is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound sophomore from Louisville, Ky. He had 114 receptions for 1,054 yards and 14 touchdowns this season.

Rice set the previous record for Mississippi Valley State University in 1983 against Southern University. Gessner tied it in 2002 for Brown University against the University of Rhode Island.
