David Beckham will miss England's friendly against Brazil next week after his MLS club Los Angeles Galaxy beat Chivas USA in the Western Conference semifinals.
Beckham was picked for the England squad Sunday, but with the understanding that the 34-year-old midfielder would not be available if the Galaxy won their playoff match later in the day.
The Galaxy are playing Houston in next weekend's Western Conference final, when England is in Qatar to face Brazil.
England coach Fabio Capello picked the squad as he prepares for the World Cup next June in South Africa. Manchester United striker Michael Owen again missed out.
